Activity-packed summer on slopes and in Ruka Village
With the arrival of summer, the snow gives way to the green slopes of Ruka, but the range of activities is at least as rich as in winter. The ski resort transforms into Ruka Bike Park, which offers a wide variety of routes for the whole family to cycle.
The VillageExpress chair lift transports summer toboggan riders, zipline customers, pedestrians and bikers from the village of Ruka to the top to admire the scenery and enjoy the pace offered by Finland's longest summer toboggan run, Finland's longest zipline and bike park trails. The Village-2-Valley landscape gondola also opens up summer views around the fell and serves as a high-speed connection between Ruka Valley and Ruka Village.
Tickets and equipment for summer activities
Lift tickets for cyclists, for summer sled track riders and for pedestrians as well as Bike Park season tickets can be purchased in our online store and in Piste rental store when the summer comes. Piste rental store has a comprehensive selection of bikes and equipment suitable for downhill and mountain biking needs of the whole family. Getting to know downhill cycling is worth starting with the courses at Ruka Ski School, where FMBIA-trained bikepark instructors guide you downhill cycling skills safely.
Hike in Ruka or in the surrounding National Parks
Finland's most popular hiking trail, Karhunkierros, ends in Ruka Village, and you can also find several great hiking trails suitable for a day trip, such as the "Valtavaaran Huiputus" or "Pyhän Jyssäys" trails. The trails of Oulanka and Riisitunturi National Parks are definitely worth a visit too. Check out the routes of Ruka and the national parks here.
