During your lesson you'll get confidence in your skills, and you learn to master the equipment in all kinds of slope conditions. Private lesson is tailored to the student's age, skill level and wishes.
We offer private lessons in these sports: downhill skiing, snowboarding, telemark skiing, freestyle skiing, freestyle snowboarding, adapted alpine skiing and nordic classic cross country skiing and skate skiing.
Lesson duration:
30 min (this option is only for 3-4 year-old child on skis or 5-6 year-old child a snowboard)
50 min (bookable for 1-2 people)
1 h 45 min (bookable for 1-10 people)
2h 45 min (bookable for 1-10 people)
Available every day from 10 am to 5 pm. First, choose your sport and find your own skill level with our guide: A guide to determining your skill level at a ski school.
You can book private lessons from our webshop to alpine skiing, snowboarding, cross-country skiing and telemarking. If you are keen on learning Freestyle tricks and you are already comfortable skier or snowboarder at blue level slopes, you can book a private Freestyle lesson.
Adaptive ski lessons are bookable only by calling, emailing or coming to meet us.

Please notice, that our customer service is busy during the high-seasons. We recommend to book the single private lessons then from webshop if possible.

A PRIVATE LESSON IS SUITABLE FOR ALL LEVELS FROM BEGINNERS TO EXPERTS
Beginner lessons are easy to start at the family-friendly Rosa & Rudolf Family Park, which features six easy magic carpet lifts. We start by learning the basics of new sport on level snow and proceed to very easy slopes. As we are learning new skills, we can move forward on to the most demanding slopes and learn to use different ski lifts.
Private lesson is also well suited for the more experienced enthusiast of the sport. Then you can improve your technique, get to know the more demanding slopes and focus on exactly the areas where you need the help of a professional instructor. Freestyle instruction focuses on practicing new tricks on snow park or half pipe according to student's skill level.
On a Nordic cross-country skiing lesson we start from very easy ski tracks according to the development of skills. On a private lesson you also get confidence in your skiing skills that you have already learned. The lessons progress towards more relaxed, fast-paced and more controlled skiing.
VIDEO POSSIBILITY
If you choose 1h 45min private lesson, you can request that your performance to be shot on video. Please let us know your wishes when booking the lesson. The video gives you a good idea of your own strengths and areas for development. Video analysis and the workouts done accordingly are ideal for developing advanced skills in downhill skiing, snowboarding, telemark and cross-country skiing.
LIFT TICKET
For a private lesson, you also need a lift ticket - depending on your skill level, either a Rosa & Rudolf Family Park ticket or a normal lift ticket.
For classic cross country skiing / skate skiing lessons, no lift ticket is needed.
EQUIPMENT
You also need ski / snowboarding equipment. If you do not have your own equipment, check out the equipment rental.
SKI SCHOOL INTRODUCTORY OFFER FOR THE FIRST BEGINNER LESSON: THREE HOURS EQUIPMENT RENTAL SET
12 years and up: €25 / children: €15 (set inc. helmet)
The offer is only valid for the first lesson of a first-time student: level 0 (no previous experience in the sport). Equipment at the special price can be only booked on site at Piste, Valley or Vuosseli rental shops. Tell the rental shop staff at equipment desk, that you have a beginner lesson booked. Not available for booking in the online shop. Please arrive at the rental shop at least 45 min. before the start of the lesson.
ADAPTED ALPINE SKIING
The lessons in adapted alpine skiing at Ruka Ski School are always private lessons, where we take into account the individual needs and wishes of each student. Please book a private lesson in adapted alpine skiing as early as possible so that we can book an instructor familiar with adapted alpine skiing and the necessary equipment for your use.
In teaching, priorities are chosen in a way and rhythm appropriate to each student. Tell your wishes and special needs when booking a lesson.
Ruka Ski School has one Bi-Ski sledge (adult-sized seat) that can be rented for lessons. You can also rent the sledge for your own use once you have learned how to use it.
