When you arrive by car, you can find many parking areas on different sides of the fell. We have compiled a list of recommended parking areas.
Plenty of parking in the Ruka area
The heated Ruka Parking Hall next to the slopes
Ruka’s underground garage is absolutely the easiest parking facility. The parking hall is only some twenty metres from the slopes and all the services of Ruka village. The prices of Ruka Parking Hall are easy on the pocket.
Short-term parking close to shops
In addition, parking areas for short-term parking are available in the vicinity of commercial premises. These include the parking area in front of Shopping Centre Kumpare, the area in front of Ruka Conference Centre (with the exception of areas designed for Scandic Rukahovi’s customer parking) and the parking area at Sale Ruka. These short-term parking areas are often full during high season, which is why we recommend taking a look at other parking areas, especially on the Vuosseli side.
The parking areas listed below are along the SkiBus route in the Ruka area. The SkiBus is free of charge in the Ruka area with a valid ski pass or when travelling with skiing or snowboarding gear.
Ruka village
Ruka Parking Hall
- 320 semi-heated car parks, open 24/7. Parking fees: 1,5 €/h, 15 €/day.

Parking in front of the Shopping Centre Kumpare
- 30 parking spots for 1 hour in front of the Shopping Centre Kumpare (access along Rukatunturitie road)

Parking area near the Northern side of Ruka village
- Near Scandic Conference Centre: Starting in July 2025, there will be increased construction traffic in the north parking area due to the hotel construction project. Part of the parking area will be closed off as a construction site, and bus parking has been moved to the ski stadium. Vuosselinrinne-tie

- Suitable for cross-country skiers, especially when the parking area in Uuttusuo Cafe is full.

Park only in permitted areas
Parking in Ruka village area is supervised by ParkkiPate from 1.8.2023 onwards. The goal is to increase safety and comfort in Ruka village area.
Parking along Karhunkierros Trail
Please note that at the Karhunkierros Visitor Centre in Hautajärvi (as well as at Basecamp Oulanka along the Pieni Karhunkierros), day visitors and hotel guests can park for free (including hikers on the Pieni Karhunkierros trail). Overnight parking is charged at 10 €/day due to the limited number of parking spaces.
There are also parking spaces for camper vans at the Karhunkierros Visitor Centre and Basecamp Oulanka. These can be reserved on the matkaparkki.com website or via the mobile app (search for Napapiiri Cafe or Karhunkierroksen Luontokeskus). The price is 11-16 €/day depending on whether the space includes electricity or not.
Charging stations for electric cars
More electric car charging points are being built all the time, both in Ruka-Kuusamo area and along the way. You can find the most up-to-date information on the latauskartta.fi. High-power chargers can be found on the roads leading to Ruka. Below is a list of chargers in Ruka-Kuusamo area.
- Ruka village: Ruka Parking Hall 20 x 3,6 kW (eParking Finland), 17 x 22 kW Type 2 (VIRTA or eParking Finland. Parking subject to a separate fee.
- Ruka Valley: Next to Ski-Inn RukaValley 320 kW fast charger and at the parking lot 20 x 22 kW Type 2.
- Ruka Valley: Vuosselinportti Rental Shop 4 x 22 kW Type 2.
- Talvijärvi: Parking lot 6 x 22 kW Type 2.
- Iisakki Glass Village x 1.
- Rukalodge: Own charger for all 12 apartments.
