Surrounded by sparkling snow and illuminated by breathtaking light art installations, this unique excursion invites you to explore the silent beauty of the northern landscape in an unforgettable way. As you trek through snowy forests and open fells, your guide will lead you along safe and scenic routes, sharing stories about the Arctic nature and the enchanting polar night. The soft glow of festival lights combined with the natural darkness creates an almost otherworldly atmosphere — perfect for slowing down, breathing deeply, and connecting with the surroundings.
No previous experience is needed, making this activity ideal for first-time snowshoers as well as more adventurous explorers.
The pace is relaxed, allowing you to fully enjoy the peaceful environment and capture stunning photos along the way. Whether you're traveling with family, friends, or as a couple, this snowshoeing tour offers a magical blend of outdoor activity, culture, and Arctic beauty—suitable for both children and adults alike. Duration about 1,5 hours.
This tour is available between 15.1. - 7.2.2027, during the Polar Night Light Festival.
Price: €79 / adult or child aged 12 and over, €69 / child aged 8–11
The trip includes:
- Winter clothing (thermal suit, gloves, wool socks, and boots)

Good to know:
The activity requires a minimum of four participants. Reservations must be made by 4:00 PM on the day preceding the excursion. If the minimum number of participants is not reached by the registration deadline, the excursion will be cancelled. In this case, all payments made will be refunded in full.
Maximum group size is 20 people.
Suitable for children aged 8 and older.
Please note that the excursion may follow an alternative route due to weather conditions or the possible closure of the gondola.

What you need to bring:
We provide all the equipment needed for the activity. We recommend arriving in comfortable outdoor clothing with a warm base layer worn underneath the winter jumpsuit or your own winter/ski clothing. Bring your own beanie/hat. We provide the necessary winter gear on-site, including a warm winter jumpsuit, wool socks, winter boots, and gloves.
Departure point for excursions:
All excursions start and end at the Ruka Guides meeting point in Ruka Valley, next to the SKI-INN Ruka Valley Hotel & Apartments (East Ruka). If you are staying in Ruka Village or the West Ruka area, a complimentary gondola ride to the departure point and back is included in the price.
Please arrive at the meeting point about 15 minutes before the start of the program so that we have time to check and fit all the equipment needed for the activity.
