Autumn Colors in Ruka-Kuusamo 2026

Autumn colours arrive every year, always as spectacular as ever and always with a touch of mystery when it comes to timing. Local folklore says that the peak autumn colours reach Kuusamo around 12 September at 2 pm, but a foliage adventure can be enjoyed at any time throughout September.

The vibrant colours of autumn, crisp air and the tranquillity of nature invite visitors to explore the fells, national parks and lakeside landscapes. During the autumn colours season, experiences range from white-water rafting, canoeing excursions and guided day hikes to wild food experiences, saunas, mountain biking and scenic chairlift rides. Nature takes centre stage, but there is plenty to enjoy in the villages as well, with events, restaurants, seasonal flavours and entertainment adding to the atmosphere of autumn.
