Sony Music is bringing the familiar Moomin characters to new music and the stage: a new Moomin album will be released in September, accompanied by a musical theatre live show titled Pyrstötähteä etsimässä (Searching for the Comet). Written and directed by Henna Tanskanen, the performance brings the story to life through song, acting, and visual storytelling. The work will premiere on September 29th and continue as a touring production across Finland.
Based on the novel Comet in Moominland (Kometjakten, 1946), the performance focuses on themes that are central to Tove Jansson's original stories: friendship, adventure, doing things together, and the courage to be oneself. The new songs expand the Moomin music tradition with fresh lyrics and modern production, while the stage will also feature audience-beloved classics in new arrangements.
The new Moomin music releases and the live performance form a complete experience that invites both children and adults to join in the adventures of Moominvalley.
