Event’s Economic Impact Reaches €4.5 Million

Ruka Nordic 2025 attracted a record-breaking audience and strengthened its position as one of Finland’s most significant winter sports events. A recent visitor survey shows that the event brings substantial economic benefits to the Ruka-Kuusamo region, draws attendees especially from Oulu, and attracts visitors to diverse skiing disciplines thanks to its long-standing traditions.

In 2025, the event reached an all-time high attendance of nearly 30,000 visitors, reinforcing Ruka-Kuusamo’s status as Northern Finland’s most appealing winter sports event. According to the survey, most visitors came from Oulu, and their average stay was four nights. This directly impacts the local economy and benefits a wide range of local service providers.

The economic impact of Ruka Nordic on the region grew significantly, reaching €4.5 million. For many visitors, the event is an annual tradition, with key motivations including interest in skiing disciplines and Ruka’s reputation as a high-quality, experience-rich venue. The event received exceptionally positive feedback: its Net Promoter Score (NPS) was 65, indicating strong visitor satisfaction.

Niina Kukka, Event Manager at Ruka-Kuusamo Tourist Association, is delighted with the results:

The increased visitor numbers and significant economic impact show that the event is more important than ever for regional tourism and local businesses. The high NPS score demonstrates that visitors find the event memorable and are eager to return.”
