2. Purpose and Legal Basis for Processing Personal Data 

The purpose of surveillance cameras is:

  • To ensure the safety of lift and property users
  • To protect property and premises
  • To prevent and investigate possible crimes or damage situations. 

Legal basis: GDPR Article 6(1)(f) – the controller’s legitimate interest in ensuring security. 

3. Register Data Content

Video recordings of the interior and exterior areas of lifts and properties.

Recordings may include: 

  • A person’s image and movements
  • Time and date

4. Regular Data Sources 

Recordings are automatically generated by surveillance cameras. 

5. Recipients of Personal Data

Access to recordings is restricted to those individuals who have the right to process them based on their work duties. Recordings may be disclosed to authorities for criminal investigations. 

6. Transfer of Data Outside the EU/EEA 

Recordings are not transferred outside the EU or EEA. 

7. Principles of Register Protection

Recordings are stored in a secure system with restricted access.

  • Access requires personal authentication.
  • The system is protected by technical measures.

8. Data Retention Period

Lift surveillance cameras 14 days
Property surveillance cameras (Ski-Inn, Rukakeskus rental shops, Rukakeskus-owned commercial premises in Ruka village) 17 days

9. Rights of the Data Subject 

The data subject has the right: 

  • to access their own personal data with certain limitations, taking into account the privacy of other individuals
  • to request the rectification or deletion of data
  • to restrict processing or object to it
  • to transfer the data from one system to another 

Requests must be submitted in writing to the data controller. The data subject also has the right to lodge a complaint with the Data Protection Ombudsman.
