Carly Rae Jepsen bändeineen Kuusamon kesäillassa

The sounds of Nature with Carly Rae Jepsen

It is quite something to see the world famous Carly Rae Jepsen dancing and singing on a Kuusamo pier, from all the piers of the world!

Even for us Finns, the luminous summers of the North are a breathtaking experience. The atmosphere of summer nights is so energetic, pure and genuine that it’s almost impossible to describe. Stress and haste disappear when you sit on a pier, put your toes into water and breathe the freedom. Carly Rae Jepsen, a Canadian singer-songwriter, living a hectic life, performing in front of the masses of people, fell in love with this feeling.

Carly Rae Jepsen was among the top three in Canadian Idols singing contest in 2007, but after releasing the song Call Me Maybe, her voice was recognized by everyone. This catchy, bubbling song made her jump to the top of the Billboard list gaining worldwide awareness, with over a billion views on YouTube. It’s quite something to get to see her dancing and singing on the pier of Lake Pyhäjärvi in Kuusamo, from all the piers of the world. Relaxed and happy.

Carly’s music video, The Sound, was filmed and recorded in Ruka-Kuusamo, as part of the Sound of Lapland project which is an adventure to the soundscapes and the senses of the Northern Finland nature.

Carly Rae Jepsen, with her friends and bandmates, admired the freely roaming reindeer, sauna and the scenery painted by the late summer sunset. When breaking away from the summer night Carly's crew was staying at the top of Ruka Fell in Boutique Hotel Ruka Peak. They tasted  reindeer meat, even though Carly first hesitated eating these adorable animals.

One might imagine that an artist travelling around the world has already seen it all, but Carly says she's impressed of this place where she's achieving a complete peace of mind. Carly describes how she felt in Lapland: “In all the places I’ve travelled to I’ve never felt so inspired to write and be creative only because your mind slows down and you’re able to actually breathe differently.” Nothing to add. Thank you, Carly.
