A scenic sauna restaurant is rising to the top of Ruka at Saarua already in December 2024, a year ahead of schedule. The plan is nearly complete, lacking only a name — participate in the naming contest and win a sauna experience and dinner for six in the new sauna restaurant!
Finally, the wishes of Ruka's visitors are being answered, as a scenic sauna restaurant rises to the top of Saarua, contrary to previous information, already in December 2024. The sauna restaurant will offer visitors an unforgettable selection of delicious food, relaxing steam, and unique northern views.
During the day, the sauna restaurant will operate as a cozy slope-side restaurant for a hundred guests, operated by Rukan Camp Ltd. From its windows, guests will enjoy inviting views of the snowy slopes and Valtavaara Nature Park. Additionally, during the day, there is a large glazed terrace available to customers, providing more sunny seating options. As the evening falls and the slopes close, guests can experience the luxurious atmosphere of the dinner restaurant by taking a ride on the gondola.

In the sauna area, guests can relax on the outdoor terrace amidst the warmth of the hot tub, or take a refreshing dip in the cold plunge pool while the fireplace crackles nearby. The sauna accommodates approximately 30 people at a time, and both pools are available for communal use. The reservation calendar for the restaurant and sauna will be opened in early winter 2024 — so there's just a little longer to wait.

What should be the name of the sauna restaurant?
The working title, Kiuas, is looking for more Ruka-themed options to accompany it. Can you come up with a suitable name for the new sauna restaurant?
Twenty sauna tickets for two will be raffled among all participants. If the proposed name is selected as the winner, the person who suggested the name will be rewarded with a sauna evening and dinner for six people. If multiple participants suggest the same name, the winner will be randomly selected from among them. Rukakeskus Oy will register the chosen name for its use.
The naming competition runs until Sunday, April 14th. The restaurant's name will be decided, and the winners will be drawn by the end of June 2024 at the latest. You can participate in the competition only once by completing the form below.
