Enjoy Ruka’s slopes all year round

The summer season in Ruka Ski Resort started on 19th of June! Welcome to enjoy the longest summer sledtrack in Finland, see the summery views of Kuusamo from scenic gondola and ride the versatile mountainbike tracks.

Ruka Village and the surrounding nature offer many other fun activities: rent a bike and explore Ruka’s routes, challenge your family to a game of minigolf, play a round of disc golf on the course surrounding the fell, go fishing or take a turn on Kaltiolampi on a pedalo. The VillageExpress chairlift carries summer sledders, walkers and mountain bikers from Ruka village to the fell top to admire the scenery and to enjoy the thrill of speed on the summer sled track and the bicycle routes. In summer 2020, the Village-2-Valley scenic gondola is also operating and offering new views to the surrounding sceneries. Gondola takes on people with bikes, baby strollers or on wheelchair. Dogs are also welcome onboard.

Finland’s most popular hiking trail Karhunkierros (“Bear’s Trail”) finishes in Ruka Village. Ruka also has several stunning hiking trails that are suitable for day trips, including “Valtavaaran huiputus” or the “Pyhän Jyssäys” trail. You can find out more about hiking trails in Ruka and the national parks here.

The first Ruka Bike Park trails will open during the summer 2020, and more is under way for the season 2021. In summer 2020 we will build two new downhill bike tracks and two new cross-country bike tracks. In addition to that, Family Park will also get a new practice area for downhill biking suitable for children and a pump track. Read more here

Book a summer holiday home from Ruka’s varied range of Ski-Inn accommodation and let the sun shine. If it should get colder, every Ruka Ski-Inn cottage and apartment has a sauna you can heat up. To ensure a relaxing holiday, our accommodation prices always include bed linen, towels and cleaning at the end of your stay. Choose a MastonAitio cabin by Juhannuskallio or an apartment either from RukaTonttu or AurinkoRinne next to the Talvijärvi beach – or would an apartment in the middle of Ruka village, from RukaSuites or RukaVillage, be the best option after all?

Try MTB Skills Course for practice along the shore of the Kaltiolampi pond. On the course, you can practise controlling your bike, balance and the basics of riding techniques. The Skills Course is also suitable for children, and when necessary, parents can follow along by foot on the edge of the course. Read more about mountain biking in Ruka here.

In June, Ruka will host traditional Midsummer party. In August Ruka and Oulanka’s trails will be taken over by the charming free festival Wild festival and in September you can admire the autumn colours and celebrate in the legendary Ruka Karaoke Carnival. In October, it’s time to open Finland’s ski season in Ruka Season Start from 2 October.
