Skiing in Finland - Superb Slope Conditions in Ruka!

Ruka's 30 slopes provide something for everyone. They range from gentle slopes for beginners to taunting gradients for professional skiers. We pride ourselves in superb slope conditions on the slopes of Ruka!

To serve our skiing customers even better, we have a separate website ski.ruka.fi, which provides all the essential information on Ruka slopes and services for downhill skiers and snowboarders.

Our slopes are located in different parts of a combination of four Arctic fells providing sheltered skiing every day. The illumination of the slopes creates a dreamlike atmosphere in the twilight. Take a look at our slope map and panorama pictures!

The skiing season normally begins in mid-October and lasts until the middle of June, thanks to our 100 snowguns. The past 15 seasons have offered between 200 and 250 skiing days!

Special attention is paid to slope conditions; top quality slope foundations, snow-making system and slope maintenance have made these 30 slopes the most popular skiing in Finland, beyond any doubt.

Ruka has 20 lifts, 5 of which are chair lifts including RukaExpress, a detachable 6 seat chairlift with bubble. This is why lift queues seldom exceed 10 minutes, most days there is no wait at all.

We have two parks featuring a challenging variety of tabletops, rails and corners for a lot of fun and enjoyment. Our pride of joy is the international level Vuosseli SuperPipe and renewed BatteryPark. Our moguls run BatteryRun was the venue of 2005 Freestyle World Championships.

Children under 7 years old ski and ride at Ruka without ski pass (helmets on, of course!) There are two kid's ski areas: in Vuosseli and in Front Side nearby restaurant Piste. Ahonlaita slope in Vuosseli also hosts kid's adventure route -  Rosa and Rudolf Route - full of exciting checkpoints such as real reindeer.

Ruka Ski School instructors are happy to provide instruction in alpine skiing, cross-country, snowboarding and telemark. The ski school has some of the best skiers and riders in Finland ready to show you the way to the world of snow sports!

The lifts are open throughout the season every day from 9.30 am until 7 pm and Fridays until 11 pm (night skiing available 2nd December 2011 - 13nd April 2012).
