RUKAVILLAGE - UNIQUE PEDESTRIAN VILLAGE TO BE REALIZED IN RUKA
The pedestrian village of Ruka is the only development project of its kind in the Nordic Countries. Its planning begun already in 1999 in connection with the Ruka Master Plan. The idea of building a pedestrian village and relocating the current car park under the village emerged under the guidance of the globally renowned Ecosign Mountain Resort Planners Ltd, which specializes in ski resorts.
After several years of planning the construction of RukaVillage started in May, 2007. All possible measures are taken to minimize any inconvenience due to construction works. You can find detailed information on the effects of construction from our INFORMATION BULLETIN PAGE. All services will operate as normal from September 1st 2007.

built by the City of Kuusamo. The parking lot will be built under the village for those who live in
the village and for visiting customers
- Street level business facilities create a unique atmosphere for the
village with numerous little shops and restaurants
- RukaVillage apartments are situated higher in the village
RukaVillage - unique holiday in a pedestrian village
The high class RukaVillage apartments will be built to central locations in the future Ruka Pedestrian Village. Apartments have been very carefully designed to meet the special needs of skiing, active customers.
RukaVillage has a reception to take care of you, and our restaurant offers a proper hotel breakfast every morning. Every excellently equipped suite has a kitchen of its own, so RukaVillage has the best features of hotels and the best features of apartments!
What makes RukaVillage suites stand out, is the straight connection with lift to the parking facilities. Thanks to underground parking, the village is dedicated to people and there are no car roads to cross when going to slopes in the morning - comfortable and safe for children, too.
The interiors have been designed by Jaakko Puro. He is an interior architect with lots of experience in designing ski resort hotel interiors. The architectural design of the site has been made by Puroplan and Havas Rosberg architectural offices together.
